Healthy Holiday Baked Oatmeal Apples

These healthy baked apples are a warm, comforting dessert that feels indulgent without being heavy. Filled with a lightly spiced oat crumble, they’re perfect for fall and winter nights, holiday gatherings, or anytime you want something sweet but nourishing.


Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup old-fashioned rolled oats

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • Pinch of ground cloves

  • 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces

  • 4 medium apples, cored

  • 1 cup water


Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

  2. In a small bowl, combine the oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves, and butter. Use a fork to mix until crumbly.

  3. Place the apples in an 8×8-inch baking dish and fill each apple with the oat mixture.

  4. Pour the water into the bottom of the baking dish.

  5. Cover loosely with foil and bake for 20 minutes.

  6. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 20 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is lightly golden.

  7. Serve warm on its own or with a dollop of yogurt or coconut cream if desired.


Servings

Makes 8 servings (½ apple per serving).
