Are You Looking For a Reason to Quit?
Or are you looking for a reason to keep going?
I headed out for my run this morning under dark, heavy clouds. The kind that make you question all your life choices before you even hit the sidewalk.
As I started running, the excuses came fast.
“It’s probably going to pour.”
“I’ve already done enough.”
“I can always finish later.”
“I have way too much to do today anyway.”
Then something interesting happened.
The clouds started to break.
The sun peeked through.
And I had two very clear options.
I could turn around and head home, proud of myself for at least showing up…
Or I could keep going, knowing I might still get rained on, but choosing forward motion anyway.
My first thought was, Sweet, I can head back now and not get soaked.
My second thought was, Actually… I can keep going and enjoy this.
And that’s when it hit me.
We always have a choice.
We can focus on the dark clouds and use them as our reason to stop.
Or we can keep moving forward, trusting that the sun will show up again.
The clouds might still be there.
The rain might still come.
But forward motion changes everything.
The sun doesn’t always show up first.
Sometimes you have to move before you see the light.
