Basic Brown Rice Recipe

This basic brown rice recipe is an easy, foolproof way to cook fluffy, perfectly tender rice every time. It’s a versatile staple that works well as a base for bowls, stir-fries, or simple side dishes.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup dry brown rice

  • 2 cups water

  • Sea salt, to taste (optional)

  • Ground black pepper, to taste (optional)


Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the rice, water, and salt and pepper if using.

  2. Bring to a boil over high heat.

  3. Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 50 minutes. Do not remove the lid during cooking.

  4. After 50 minutes, remove the pan from heat and let it sit, still covered, for 10 minutes.

  5. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve.


Servings

Makes about 3 cups cooked rice.
