Citrus Grilled Steak
This citrus grilled steak is a simple, flavor-packed way to prepare lean beef using fresh citrus, herbs, and garlic. The marinade adds brightness and tenderness without overpowering the steak, making it a great option for an easy weeknight dinner or casual grilling.
It works well with several cuts of steak and can be made on the grill or under the broiler.
Ingredients
1/2 cup fresh lemon or lime juice
1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro
4 teaspoons olive oil
4 cloves garlic, chopped
4 raw lean steaks (6 to 7 oz each, such as filet mignon, sirloin, or flank steak)
Directions
In a resealable bag or shallow dish, combine the lemon or lime juice, cilantro, olive oil, and garlic.
Add the steaks and turn to coat evenly. Marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to 4 hours.
Preheat the grill or broiler to high heat.
Remove steaks from the marinade and cook for about 5 to 6 minutes per side, or until the steak is no longer pink in the center and reaches an internal temperature of about 145 to 150°F.
Remove from heat and allow the steak to rest briefly before serving.
Cooking Tip
Cooking time will vary depending on the thickness and weight of the steak.
For medium-rare results:
3 to 6 oz steaks: cook 4 to 7 minutes per side
7 to 12 oz steaks: cook 6 to 9 minutes per side
13 to 16 oz steaks: cook 7 to 10 minutes per side
You can also season the beef with additional garlic or fresh or dried herbs such as sage.
Servings
Makes 4 servings.
