Doing Things Before You Are Ready is How We Grow

Watching my daughter is a constant reminder that growth only happens when we are willing to do things before we feel ready.

She wants to sit in the big chair, drink from the big cup, and use the big spoon. All of it.

I watched her climb into a chair that was way too far from the table, wobble around, and nearly poke herself in the eye trying to drink from a straw. And I just thought… how amazing is this?

She is not content doing only what she already knows how to do. She wants more.

She is messy, awkward, and uncoordinated, and none of that stops her. She does not question whether she is “ready.” She does not worry about failing or looking silly. She is not waiting for permission or approval. She just tries.

And every time she does, she gets a little better.

She never once thinks about staying in her lane or waiting until she is perfect. She climbs, reaches, and stretches into what is next without hesitation.

That is growth.

There is no final destination. No moment where you arrive and get to stop learning, stretching, or evolving. There is no point where you get to say, “Okay, I’m done now.”

This is not just childhood. This is life.

Growth is meant to be constant. Messy. Uncomfortable. Awkward. Beautiful.

You are not meant to stay where you are. You are not meant to wait until you feel ready. You are not supposed to have it all figured out before you begin.

There will always be a bigger chair.
A longer reach.
A new version of yourself waiting to be explored.

The only question is whether you are willing to climb up and try.
